It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Date Harvest)!

The wait is over! Harvest season has officially wrapped up, and our farmers are completing the final steps of harvesting our ripe, moisture-rich Medjool dates. Our palms, some dating back to the 1940s, continue to produce an impressive 200-250 pounds of fresh dates per tree. Since the harvest window is so short—just about three weeks—our team has been hard at work to ensure the dates are picked at their peak.

Do you know where your food comes from?

As a dietitian who grew up in the agricultural industry, one of my career goals is to help people learn more about where their food comes from. The reality is this: most of the population did not have a childhood spent on a farm and therefore have not had the opportunity to see how their food is produced. Picture1-Sep-16-2024-03-36-40-5140-PMThis lack of exposure can quickly breed fear of farming methods and food in general. Beyond my childhood experiences, a lot of my ability to educate others comes from continuing to educate myself, and that’s precisely why I loved attending the Natural Delights Harvest Tour!

I had been working as a social media partner with Natural Delights for about a year before I attended their harvest tour, and I have to admit, I did not know the first thing about how dates were grown or harvested…I just knew I liked to eat them! After a beautiful intro dinner on night one, we packed up early in the morning and drove to the Bard Valley in Yuma, Arizona, to see how delicious dates get from the farm to the table.
