Make Your Own Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving kicks off such a special season in which we spend more time celebrating the holidays with our loved ones. Amidst the chaos of cooking, hosting, and shopping it’s easy to lose sight of those around us and that feeling of thankfulness for having those people in our lives. What if you started a new friend or family fall tradition to keep that top of mind? We’ve rounded up a few fun ideas to help you be more present and purposeful with your time together.

Tradition for Friends

Cookie-luck!

Instead of hosting a full Friendsgiving potluck, host a cookie social instead. How it works: Every guest brings a homemade cookie of their choice and everyone gets to fill a decorative cookie container with each kind of cookie. Not in the “moo’d” for booze? Take your cookie-luck to the next level with a gourmet milk bar!

Tradition for Partners

Midnight Milkshakes

If you’ve watched the fall classic, Practical Magic, then you know they get surprised at midnight by the whirl of the blender and Midnight Margaritas. How fun would it be to surprise your partner with Midnight Milkshakes instead? We can’t think of a more appropriate date shake than a Medjool Date Shake, but the choice is yours! A little trick: You can make it taste like it’s from an old-fashioned ice cream parlor by using malted milk powder. Make it into a true night-in with a movie on the big screen - in your living room!

Tradition for Families

Family Readathon

Cool fall evenings are the perfect time to cozy up with your family and read a book together. We suggest choosing a book that can lead to playful activities, like The BFG by Roald Dahl. The book is full of food that can be made and enjoyed by the whole family. First, there’s Frobscottle, which “tastes of vanilla and cream, with a faint trace of berries” and “bubbles that went down instead of up.” We can’t think of a more fitting recipe for this than our Strawberry Coconut Boba Tea recipe! At the end of the book, the Big Friendly Giant is rewarded with a feast—“A ridiculous amount of eggs, bacon, sausages, and fried potatoes.” Breakfast for dinner it is!
